1930's Cottage
Winner SDH/G 2013 Home of the Year
This house started its life as a small cottage built in the early 1930’s. The clients had lived in this house for many years and a main concern was to keep the historical character and scale of the street facade to honor the long past of this area of the city. But, of course, they needed more and better organized living space with updated conveniences. We developed a plan which substantially expanded the house, maintained the basic façade of the house (though modified in all its details), provided a human scale, well lit and spacious interior.
Spanish Revival
ASID San Diego Design Excellence Award Winner
The owners of this small 1920’s Spanish Revival home outgrew their space but had a passion for this home, its architecture, and its location. We helped reconfigure all spaces, specifying custom tile, stains, faux finishes, custom cabinetry, furniture and antiques along with providing interior and exterior lighting design with period fixtures. A large Outdoor Room containing a fireplace, TV, and entertaining areas was another new feature we designed.
Victorian Bed and Breakfast
Window Fashions Magazine Award Winner
The Inn, a converted Victorian home, with nine bedrooms and attached bathrooms, afforded us the opportunity to showcase the wide variety of interesting Victorian decorative styles, which are so different from our contemporary aesthetic. Each room has a completely different look and rich color scheme. We were dedicated to bringing authenticity to the project by researching colors, wallpaper, and draperies appropriate to the age, and by the extensive use of period furniture and framed art pieces.
Spanish Villa
With twin babies on the way the owners of this intriguing 1927 Spanish Revival home were about to experience a major lifestyle change. In order to accommodate the new family we renovated most areas of the home including a full new kitchen and master bath. We also added a second story bedroom wing which blends seamlessly with the existing home, remaining faithful to & enhancing period details.
